Gathered in Vienna in 1982, in relation to aging, "World Assembly" in accordance with the decisions taken in 1988 in Malta, "International Institute of Ageing - International Institute of Ageing (INIA)" has been established.
In 1993, the World Association of Physiotherapists (World Confederation of Physical Therapists-WCPT) and the United Nations, the International Institute of Ageing (INIA) for the first international course organized by physiotherapists in old age.
Malta in 1997, the World Association of Physiotherapists (WCPT), the World Business-Occupational Therapists Association (World Federation of Occupational Therapists-WFOT) and the International Institute of Ageing (INIA) by the first international course for physiotherapists and occupational therapists organized.
On October 10, 2002 the "International Association for the Elderly Employees International Physical Therapists Physiotherapists Working with Older People" (IPTOP) of the United States, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland and Türkiye, with the participation of delegates initiated the first informal working group.
In Barcelona from 7 to 12 June 2003, the World Association of Physiotherapists' (WCPT), the 14 International Congress in 7392 as the official physiotherapist with a total of 17 countries and the "International Association for the Elderly Employees International Physical Therapists Physiotherapists Working with Older People" (IPTOP) was established.
After the geriatrics special interest group process that started in 2002 and continued for three years, it has continued its activities as the Geriatric Physiotherapists Association since April 14, 2005.
